Christmas 2013!

Our beautiful tree and mantle (I CANNOT take credit for our amazing tree, this was my mom's work)

Merry Christmas everyone!  Christmas is my second favorite holiday (Thanksgiving is my favorite), so it's only fitting that I post about it.  This year was special in a sense because even though Harry was born by Christmas last year, he was only a couple of weeks old, so this year I felt he was old enough to (begin to) understand.  We had a quiet day this year which was really nice since usually we are traveling back from someplace or another on Christmas Day, but this year we were home.

Here's Harry first thing in the morning, oblivious to his gifts

I LOVE to wrap presents and make them beautiful, I feel like the wrapping paper and adornments are  part of the actual present itself.  One of the things I usually do instead of making labels for gifts, is I wrap all the gifts for each person in their "own" wrapping paper.  Since Harry is obsessed with "Brown Bear," all of his presents from Santa (us) were in that paper (I didn't use too many bows on his gifts though).  We waited for my mom to get to our house before we opened gifts.  I know this will not work in future years, but while he has no clue, it was nice to wait for his mama (grandma), and my sisters.

Harry loved all of his presents, but he was really overwhelmed! We opened them up for him throughout the whole day.  Honestly we don't believe in spoiling him and wanted only to give him 2 presents in total for Christmas, but he was soooooo good, so Santa thought he deserved a couple more.  He got an activity cube from ALEX toys, a guitar,  a drum, books, puzzles, a wheely block toy cart thing, a huge stuffed animal frog, (a whole bunch of other s*!+) and a baby doll. YES, a baby doll.  Harry loves playing with baby dolls and I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.  I bought him a baby doll of his own (so he'd stop taking my sisters'), and was actually met with some criticism in the store when someone behind me happened to ask if it was for my daughter.  When I said, "no, it's for my son," well that just opened a whole can of worms with this man…and I will save that for another post.  Anyway, Harry's favorite gifts were his frog and toy guitar (he could care less about the baby doll--go figure!)

Santa was very good to mommy as well, and I got the  LV NEVERFULL GM, Hunter boots, a JCREW toggle wool coat, another puffer coat, sweaters and clothes, and from Harry, the Urban Decay Naked Palette (which I've been wanting).   It really is such a beautiful bag, and I love it, but…I have been wanting a Goyard, so I may switch it…what do you think I should do? Keep it, or switch it?

I hope you all had a very merry Christmas, filled with peace and love and wish you all the best for a prosperous and wonderful new year.  2014 is going to be THE YEAR (I just know it because 14 is my lucky number).

Oh, and I shouldn't forget about our dear (devil) cat Rex because he's part of the family too!

I started this blog to share my life and experiences with you all.  It's going to be a little of this, and a little of that! Everything from parenting and marriage to hair and makeup, to fitness and health and beyond. It's all about life and how I live and love it.  Hope you enjoy and thanks for reading!

Harrison's First Birthday

Harrison's first birthday was December 4th.  We were away on vacation for the entire week, but wanted to do something special to celebrate his first year.  We wanted a more homey, intimate celebration, so decided to have it at home.  His cake was baked by moi, and Rich and I worked on the pennant banner for a week prior to leaving. (he stenciled, I cut and assembled).  What do you think of the finished product?
